Reading between the lines, it appears the United States is anxious to take a back seat in its latest war. Cruise missile are a pain-free way to kick off the conflict, and it now appears to be maneuvering for a support role: providing, intelligence, and refueling, while allowing the allies in a “coalition of the willing” to do the bulk of the dirty work…

Watching the pitched dogfight over the future of the F-22 Raptor, brings back fond memories of past congressional battles over expensive weapons systems, also derided at the time as cold war relics: notably the $2 Billion B-2 Stealth Bomber.
