A tenured English Professor at Annapolis is leveling an explosive charge about race-based admissions at the elite Naval Academy: “It’s a two-track system: whites have to excel to get in, non-whites don’t have to. They just have to be non-white.”

As President Obama weighs what to do in Afghanistan, I would advise him to to keep two maxims firmly in mind, to wit: 1. Look before you leap. 2. He who hesitates is lost.

Were two of the best pilots in Marine Corp made scapegoats to save the troubled V-22 program back in 2000? One congressman is on a crusade to set the record straight asserting the pilots and their families have been dishonored. The Navy and and Marine Corps are not budging.

Was the AP’s decision to distribute a graphic photograph of a dying Marine, “morally indefensible” as my colleague Tom Ricks writes, or a tough judgment call? After further review, I’m weighing in again.
