Lee Marvin would have made a great Gen. Conway. General Conway is the epitome of a U.S. Marine Commander. He was my CO at the basic school. One of his first orders was to forbid Lieutenant’s from spit shining their boots. He wanted brush shining only. He said that he did not need Lieutenant’s who were boot blacks. He needed Lieutenant’s studying tactics and operations to win the next war. | |
I agreed with you, the Army tired that, after RVN and ROE (up or out) it was like IBM corportation. That is why the Marines are the “Few. the Proud”, they live their History, have Love of Country, and Honor. | |
There is just something cynical about these comments. Looking at today’s wars comments like “Col” are out of touch with reality. Battle of Falloujah under MG Natonski is a great example. Army and Marines fought and died side by side as professionals not petty schoolchildren. |
