It’s Christmas

It’s Christmas

“You do not know what Christmas is, until you lose it in some foreign land.“
– Ernest Hemingway

This being Christmas Eve, I’ll make this short.   In Decembers past I would find myself touring various warzones in the days before Christmas, but unlike the troops, I would always make it home for the big day, and spend it with my family.  In fact, amazingly given the perverse nature of the news business, I always managed not to have to work Christmas Day, (although I was “on call” a few times.)

Rather than trying to write anything too profound, I thought I would share something a friend sent me.  A couple of articles published by Ernest Hemingway. Some would say he’s a better writer than me, anyway.

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays,

Jamie

I love the mistetoe story from Hemingway. I remember being away on deployment at Christmas, good memories and bad. You didn’t join us in Haiti that Christmas, but you were there a few weeks later. I hope you had a great Christmas in the snowy confines of the DC area, Jamie.
