An Islamic terrorist attack? Or just another workplace shooting?

From 1995 to 2001 Chris Plante and I covered the Pentagon together for CNN.  We had many lively debates in our Pentagon office located on the E-ring, with a nice view of the National Cathedral out our window.  Since his departure from CNN (at his own choosing), Chris has gone on to become a successful and popular conservative talk-show host on WMAL Radio here in Washington.   I asked him for his views on the Ft. Hood shootings, and he sent me this response.  His views are his own, and while you are free to comment here, you can also call him while he’s on the air, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, by calling 1–888-630-WMAL (9625)

Well, if you are one of the few people still wondering why The New York Times and other formerly august “news organizations” are on the brink of going broke, look no further than the “coverage” of the terrorist attack on U.S. troops at Fort Hood, Texas.

In the most deadly jihadi attack on U.S. soil since September 11th, 2001, we have
an obviously angry Muslim man who committed an act of mass murder.
Some facts now in evidence are:
– Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was passing out Korans shortly before the murder spree;
– He was dressing in traditional Muslim / Arab garb, (Note here that he is from Virginia);
– He was shouting the traditional jihadi murder cry of “God Is Great” (Allah u akbar) as he murdered American soldiers en masse; He received a poor performance review while serving at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in part for attempting to convert soldiers to Islam;
– He claimed he has been the “victim” of slurs since the attacks of September 11th;
He wrote approvingly on a blog that Islamic “scholars” have equated jihadi suicide bombers with the selfless American war heroes who throw themselves on hand grenades to save fellow soldiers; He publicly declared that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were “unjust;“
– He expressed his feeling of conflict having to do with his orders to deploy to a war zone where Muslims would be killed by U.S. troops in combat. Just to cite a few pieces of evidence.

But the key event to be considered here is that fact that he showed up on base and committed an act of mass murder while shouting “Allah u akbar.”  That’s the most important one.  If you’re Columbo or Miss Marple, that’d be one you’d want to take into account.

The attack is a perfect replica of innumerable attacks around the world by jihadis.  It doesn’t share some of the characteristics, it shares virtually all of the characteristics.   Hmmmm…?  Where to now?  Don’t want to leap to any rash conclusions before all the facts are in.

The news media, after reviewing the facts, is “relieved” to discover that the massacre had nothing to do with “his faith.”  They are happy to report that this was not, repeat not, an Islamic terrorist attack.  Just another workplace shooting.  With an Allah u akbar or two thrown in to throw us off the scent.

The dying media are attempting to weave a laughably false — but very P.C. — narrative which holds variously that the blood-soaked practitioner of “the religion of peace” was the “victim” of bullying and slurs. This is known as the Columbine defense.  Then, they tell us, his car was allegedly “keyed” some time ago by a mean person and therefore his rage was justified.  With life-traumas like this, it’s no wonder he became a mass murderer.

He is the first know case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder by osmosis. PTSD is now like the H1N1 virus.  You can catch it simply by being near it.  Now, all soldiers with actual PTSD — or any combat experience — have an open invitation to slaughter their fellow soldiers.  Urban police officers as well.  Emergency room doctors and nurses.

They now tell us that it is a clear case of “cognitive dissonance.”  He was “conflicted” by his role as a U.S. military officer and his identity as a Muslim.  I guess we know which one won out.

Anything, anything at all — other than the obvious truth.  The 800 pound gorilla in the room is “Allah u akbar.”  (And a pile of other evidence.)

The media tell us, he was “troubled.”  Oh.  Really?  Ya think?  How about Khalid Sheik Muhammad?  Troubled?  Truck bombers in Pakistan?  Troubled?  Slurs?   Al Capone?  Adolph Hitler?  Stalin?  Difficulty getting along?  Tough childhoods?

Coincidentally, this clownish media narrative mirrors efforts by the Obama administration to dismiss the obvious. What are the odds of that?

Maybe someone “keyed” Osama bin Laden’s car while he was living in London.
I think The New York Times ought to look into that.  Could unravel this whole notion
of “radical Islam” and direct is all back onto a corrupt and racist Western Civilization.

On MSNBC, as the smoke cleared and family members cried, Keith Olbermann on MSNBC declared  Fox News kingpin Rupert Murdoch to be, “The Worst Person In The World.”  They declared the alleged “key” incident to be “a hate crime.”  But not the mass murder.   This is a good example of why Fox News has an audience larger than that of CNN, MSNBC and CNN Headline News combined.  And why “news” papers are going under at record speed.  They can no longer be trusted, believed or even taken seriously. The echo bubble in which they live is about to burst.

September 11th has long been nothing more than a punch-line to the Upper-West-Side crowd.  This is an opportunity to blame the U.S. military.

It’s like concluding that Lee Harvey Oswald killed John F. Kennedy because he was having problems at work.  It not a joke so much as it is yet another offensive, politically correct fraud being perpetrated by a “news media” in decline.  The best thing for America now is that these “news organizations” go the way of the buggy whip and make room for the next generation of media to replace them.  This jig is up.

This false narrative is consistent with the left’s broader narrative that all terrorists at GITMO are innocent victims of the evil United States and — by extension — of course — the Bush administration.

O.J. was framed.

This is the left’s denial in full bloom.  It’s the media’s collective version of the Twinkie defense.

And, as Columbo would say at the end of the show, “And one more thing…”  Allah u akbar.

Hasan is guilty of waging jihad, but the “news media” is guilty of much more.  Not just in this case.  But in general, of trading credibility for the agenda of the left.

We live in very dangerous times.

Wake up.

Excellent article and analysis. The left wing kooks on MSNBC are literally Marxist sympathizers at the very least and definitely complicit in attempts to get to the truth, which seems to be pretty clear on this one. There is little doubt that Hasan is a radical Islamist. Sad to say the military is indirectly complicit in the deaths of our men and women soldiers, as it appears that sufficient information was communicated to those in charge who either failed to act or swept it under the rug. What a travesty!
Please take the time to review a November 6th American Thinker article, Resolving the Cognitive Dissonance of Islam by D. L. Adams, which does an excellent job of explaining how it is that Islam is not a “religion of peace” but a civilization of politics(caliphate), law(Sharia law), war(jihad) and a deliberately misleading, “religion of peace”. Very informative, very useful and it dovetails with your article, Mr. Plant.
Thank you Mr. Plante for your excellent expose.

So we are so stunted that we get a multiple choice quiz.
A.) It he attacked because he is a Muslim.
B.) He attacked because he was reminded that many Americans do not like Muslims.
C.) Both A and B.
Shouldn’t other choices be allowed?

Oh right Muslims are just so so violent. The US has been waging a war of Aggression against a Muslim country for years during which time I think I heard that there are 3000 Muslims serving in the US military. Ok not all of them are lifers over that past 6 years some have left the service and some new ones have arrived. So that means 5 to 10 thousand Muslims serving over the past 6 years. Yet only TWO have carried out attacks against US Soldiers. Shit by that ratio Muslims are way more peaceful than Zen Buddhists. No wonder the Muslims have not won a war for hundreds of years against a non Muslim country.

The editorial, “After Fort Hood” [9/7], begins, “President Obama was right.” That’s not an unusual declaration on the part of The Washington Post. The endorsement was regarding Mr. Obama’s warning of “jumping to conclusions before we have all the facts.”

Interestingly, no Washinton Post editorial began, “President Obama was wrong” when the president jumped to the conclusion–after admitting he didn’t know all the facts yet–that an etire city police department “acted stupidly.”

This seems, at best, inconsistent and at worst a position of propping up Obama whatever his position
at the time.

Jamie, thanks for including this blog entry by Chris Plante. Absolutely brilliant, Chris, as usual. Your straight-forward, rational, intelligent, witty analysis is right on. It’s what makes you such a thought-provoking and engaging talk show host as well. Thank you for being a voice of logic and reason in the mish-mash sea of political correctness! This country is commiting suicide by political correctness!!

While it is certainly important to label the act correctly, it is more important for use to determine a solution to what is being being repeated time and again…our inability to correlate intelligence data in a useful way to give us “factual” and “actionable” information. In hindsite, we now know all the things you talked about in your post. How can any person, especially one in the military, make contact with those he did, make comments and behave in the way we did (on the job and off), buy guns legally and pass the background check he did, without some useful profile being produced that could give leaders and decision makers the big picture that is just now emerging? We can fret political positions, but we need to get our “security and intelligence” act together so maybe we can “lead turn” these type of incidents that look so evident only in hindsite. PC won’t kill us, our lack of coordinated vigilance will.

Our military has been infiltrated not only by Muslim Jihadists, but also by the Lords of Political Correctness … both are deadly enemies of the American Soldier. We saw the consequences of both at Fort Hood, Texas, and yet, our so-called leaders continue ttheir feeble attempt to rationalize it away. How very sad … especially on a day we refer to as Veterans Day.
